Acknowledgements, Montaignac and current tables

Camille Pissarro thanks Claude Monet for his letter and his offer of friendly service. He was especially pleased to be put in touch with Mr Montaignac, whom he hoped he could use as an intermediary for amateurs, which was one of his main embarrassments. Pissarro then explains that he will travel to Caumartin Street as soon as he has completed the paintings on which he is still working, believing that he needs at least an additional eight days. He concluded by humorously evoking the criticisms made to the painters not to finish their paintings.

My dear Monet,

I have indeed received your first letter in response to mine, I thank you very much for the offer of such friendly service that you do, but what makes me very happy is to get in touch with Mr Montaignac, who, I hope, can serve as an intermediary to the amateurs, this was my greatest embarrassment.

As soon as I have finished the paintings that I work I will go to Caumartin Street, I still need at least eight working days, it is terrible these paintings and say that we are accused of not finishing!...
